why dance?

Ballroom and Latin American dancing offers a host of benefits for children that extend beyond the dance floor.

It’s an enjoyable way for your child to remain active, enhancing fitness, coordination, posture, and flexibility.

Beyond physical benefits, dance fosters creativity, confidence, and determination. Ballroom and Latin dancing with a partner also helps develop social skills, promoting cooperation, respect, and effective communication.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Age Is Appropriate For My Child To Start Ballroom And Latin Dance Classes?

We welcome children of various ages to join our ballroom and Latin dance classes. Generally, children aged 3 and above can begin their dance journey with us.

How Often Should My Child Attend Dance Classes To See Progress?

Consistency is key when it comes to seeing progress in dance. We recommend that children attend dance classes at least once a week. Regular attendance allows them to build upon their skills, improve their technique, and develop their confidence on the dance floor.

Are There Any Specific Clothing Or Shoe Requirements?

We recommend students wear comfortable attire that allows for ease of movement, such as dance leggings or shorts and a fitted top. As for shoes, it's best to wear shoes with suede or leather soles, as they provide the necessary traction and allow for proper footwork.

Is It Necessary For My Child To Have A Dance Partner In These Classes?

It is not necessary for your child to have a dance partner to participate in dance classes. We structure our classes in a way that allows children to rotate partners, enabling them to learn and practice with different classmates. This fosters a friendly and social atmosphere while ensuring their partnering skills grow.

Are There Any Competitions My Child Can Participate In?

Yes, we offer opportunities for children to participate in exams and competitions. These events provide valuable experiences for them to showcase their skills, gain confidence, and celebrate their progress. Participation in these events is purely optional, and we support each child's individual goals and aspirations.

Can Parents And Guardians Be Present During Class?

Absolutely! We understand the importance of parental involvement and support. At County Dance, we have dedicated seating available around the dance floor and on the stage for parents and guardians to observe their child's progress during classes. We welcome you to be a part of your child's dance journey and witness their growth first hand.
